The Olympics are dominating our house these days, which inevitably leads to dreaming about Waylon being a future Olympian.
I’d like to say we wouldn’t be these parents, but you know we totally would be. Watch their hilarious video here reacting to their daughter’s bar routine.
{Thanks Bethany}

Chick-Fil-Activism by Odd Man Out. “Eating a fried chicken sandwich is one of the most inefficient means I can imagine for protecting or promoting your beliefs about marriage and sexuality.” (Just as an FYI, I don’t support or not support Chick-Fil-A. I believe in free speech, gay rights, and waffle fries. I simply appreciated this article’s perspective, and that’s all I’m going to say about that)
My Own Retraction by Molly B. “I’ve never understood why you would show up at someone’s blog, take your own time to read their words and then slam them. The writer has a choice to write. The reader has the choice to read. There’s also this really cool feature on the internet where you can click off a page and on to another one if you don’t like what you are reading or if you aren’t being entertained.” (Great article for bloggers or readers of blogs)
5 Quirky Activities For Your Bored Toddler by LadyLeeInProcess. 5 fun, cheap, toddler activities for moms who sometimes lack creative thinking skills (me).

Stuffed Grilled Peppers
First grill your pepper halves. Then stuff them with a mixture of cooked brown rice, sauteed garlic, sauteed onion, sauteed peppers, fresh diced tomatoes, and chopped fresh basil. Top with grated cheese and warm in the oven until the cheese melts. HEAVEN IN YOUR MOUTH.

Recently Not A Cool Mom
I got rid of the diaper bag.
It just had to happen. Chasing Rambo with a bag over my shoulder was becoming problematic, so I dug out an old backpack from high school and gave up any dream of being a cool mom. Next up: fanny pack.

And finally our Friday Funny from the Internets
Real Actors Read Yelp Reviews. In episode #001, Chris Kipiniak dramatizes a one-star Yelp review of the Stratford Diner in New Jersey. Priceless.
Happy Friday.

The Sudanese refugee Olympian was resettled to the U.S. with the help of my organization – Episcopal Migration Ministries!
Amazing!
Those stuffed peppers look amazing.
These Friday lists are the highlight of my Friday.
So many great things today! I love that new web series reading Yelp reviews. What a great idea! Can’t wait for the next one. Head and the Heart? Check! Just downloaded their album two weeks ago and it’s been on repeat. Guor Marial’s story is amazing!
Love the picture with the links. YES TO THE BACKPACK!!!! I can’t go without it.
The World’s Most Powerful Photographs…. amazing.
It killed me to watch Aly Reisman’s parents during her performances. Bit I loved how real they were. The pressure!
I know NOTHING about the Chik-fil-a controversy. I’ve never been a big fan of the food, but I’llgo read the article now.
Backpack-the right choice. :)
You are my backpack inspiration! SO MUCH BETTER.
All the cool {and smart} moms wear backpacks. Designer diaper bags are stupid.
Fanny packs are making a comeback!
I played that song and my baby started dancing, that’s good stuff right there. And that video….I’m still laughing.
Thanks for linking to me Dude. And we’ve been using a book bag since Westley was like 4 months old – you aren’t alone. :)
I always wanted to like stuffed peppers but they would get too soft and slimy in the oven – GRILLING THEM. That is genius! I am so doing that.
