Recently A Tearjerker
A few months ago I linked to an Olympics ad that made me bawl like a baby.
They’ve come out with another:
I can’t hold it together. (Original below)

Recently Headed to NYC
Here’s the short of it: For many years I watched the morning talk show The View. 2 years ago I applied for free tickets and a few days ago I finally, randomly received them in the mail. You do not get to decide when you go, so I guess I’m off to the big apple in less than two weeks to see Whoopie and company discuss current events and hopefully give me a free cruise (I’m not holding my breath). My sister is tagging along. We’re taking a bus that costs 11 dollars round trip. It will be an adventure (or at least a really good story).

Famous hipster sisters Lennon and Maisy Stella are back with an acoustic cover of Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up.”

Zucchini Boats
Original recipe found here. I skipped the bacon and the sour cream, not because I wanted to–but because I didn’t have either.
Ingredients
1/2 tsp curry powder
1/2 tomato
1 tsp thyme
2 zucchinis
1 onion
cheese to taste
salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Give the zucchini a good scrub. Slice them in half length-ways and trim the ends. Spoon out the guts. Give the zucchini pulp a good chop, also chop a small onion and 1/2 a tomato while you’re at it. Use only half a tomato otherwise things will become a teeny bit too fluid, although I (as always) doubled the recipe and used a whole tomato. Saute onion. When the onions are almost done, add 1/4 tsp curry powder and cook everything for an additional 30 seconds. No longer or the curry powder will turn bitter. When they’re done, transfer them to a big bowl. Mix all the other ingredients. Oil a baking dish. Grab a spoon and fill the shells with the mix. Sprinkle some aged cheese on top (I also included some in the mix–feta!). 20 minutes in the oven and you’re done.
Full disclosure: Austin was thumbs down (too boring) but I thought they were a delight.

Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
I haven’t seen you in about a week which is fine. Maybe you have something better to do than watch your sweet baby bloom into life. ![]()
This past week was difficult. I just wanted to update you on what has been going on here and happening to me. Please see below.
1. Numerous unexplained time-outs.
2. Lentils for lunch. If you don’t know what lentils are, they’re rehydrated squirrel droppings or acorn shavings, I’m not sure.
3. She spoke to me rudely at approximately 4:45PM on Thursday.
4. No park on Friday at all.
5. Pants daily.
6. VERY few desserts. None of them chocolate related.
7. Two more of my puzzles were thrown away.
8. I found three of my DRAWINGS in the kitchen trash. {Keep reading here}

And finally, our Friday Funnies from the Internets
&
Happy Friday.

The singing sisters—wow.
(And thanks for the link!)
You are the Best!
I already love that song by Jason and that cover is amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Those Olympic ads are just such tearjerkers!
Happy Weekend to you!
There are always so many good things in these Friday posts that I don’t know where to start. I love the Olympics commercial and I love that lamp and I’m loving all the link ups. I also think the zucchini boats look good. I am a cooking dummy but I think I could handle it.
You definitely can.
Now I am obsessively looking through YouTube for all of the videos by the sisters. Wow.
I’m still laughing about yesterday’s post.
I need that lamp.
Thanks for making me cry all over my cereal (not).
I love that first Friday funny. My hair and teeth go together most days. :P
I am currently living in the UK and there’s this one Olympics commercial that makes me tear up every single time. It is so unbelievably gorgeous!
http://youtu.be/kvOKp0NsNIM
I think that the second one is the compilation of all the separate stories created for each individual country? Because the British boy and his mum have their own advert that runs here.
Now, I must get back to finishing up my work, teary eyes and all. Thanks for sharing!
Hello UK! Love, love, love the commercial. Thanks for sharing!
Those girls! Lennon and Maisey will be on repeat for the rest of the day. TY KJB!
Ok- I posted that before I even listened to the entire song. The key change at the end…perfection! Where did you find them?
HuffPo!
A much as I love those commercials, I’m just not a p and g fan. It’s the activist in my I guess.
Ok, 11 bucks for a bus ticket? R u kidding me?! I can’t wait to hear about your adventures.
HOW do those commercial writer people get me to cry so much in just one minute!? The music? The true but cheesy line about moms? I feel like such a sucker. But they’re so good. I’ve watched them both over and over.
Trying the zucchini tomorrow night. I’m guessing Brad will feel the same as Austin…
I will be watching for you on the view, as I am an avid “Viewer” myself! I am currently 7 weeks prego or those zuch boats would look like my dinner tomorrow…right now nothing suffices as my dinner :( AND, you really got to hand it to Tina Fey, that woman sure can nail some pretty good points! Thanks for always posting awesome stuff that I laugh and cry over and love.
Hello fellow “Viewer!” I’ll be waving at you.
If you need a place to stay in NYC, we’ve got a great pull out couch for 2!
Thanks Heather!
I have developed an obsession with that lamp. I just sent the link to my aunt and my mom {who have slides, I believe} in hopes of receiving one for my birthday. :)
Your snacks are always theeeee best.
Thanks for linking me and for sharing the pictures of you and Waylon in the mirror. I had to pin it. So cute I can’t stand it.
Also – PLEASE INSTGRAM THE VIEW. And in the middle of taping shout something like, ” Oh CAN it HASSLEBACK.”
