Oscar Party 2012

I threw a little party for the Oscars this year.

It was fun, despite the baby pooping all over the floor and then both of us stepping in it, barefoot.

There were cupcakes, ballots, bingo, and beer. What more do you need?

If you care, best dressed goes to Gwyneth and most awesome goes to Tina Fey (but you knew that).

Earlier this week I hosted a few (great) friends for a few (short) days.

It was wonderful. We stayed up late giggling about boys and it made my soul happy.

Waylon was happy too, as one of the ladies was his size.

I miss them already.

Recently A Putz

With all the commotion these past two weeks, I forgot my Dad’s 52nd birthday.

I felt bad about it, hopefully Waylon makes up for it this weekend with his unmistakable charm.

Trailer for the movie Bully

YouTube Preview Image

Every week I read another headline about a child being bullied to the point of extremity and every week I promise myself I’ll stop reading the news. I watched this trailer yesterday with tears streaming down my face. I just kept shaking my head and looking over at Waylon who is still so innocent. I wanted to scream “THIS IS NOT OKAY!” because friends, this is not okay.

Recently The National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) has sided with the MPAA in its decision to reject The Weinstein Company’s request to lower the rating of the film from an R to a PG-13 so it could be used as an educational aid. A petition posted to Change.org by a teenage victim of bullying calling for the MPAA to reverse its decision has racked up over 100,000 signatures since it was launched three days ago. I signed it, maybe you’ll sign too? [More info here]

My friend Suz shared a blog post with me yesterday.

You might have already read it. I hadn’t.

This girl is no joke; a great writer and an inspiration to those of us who want to make a change but don’t know if we have the courage to start.

She also said I don’t have to run to be thin and that pleases me. It pleases me very much.

Read it HERE.

Recently Nominated

This week I was nominated for Best Family Blog on apartmenttherapy.com.

While being nominated felt great, it also made me feel confused because I said I would never make you vote for me in any contests because no one likes that.

So here I am, not asking you, because who wants another chore to do on a Friday? Not me.

For those of you who did vote, thank you. Thank you very much.

Voted. I WANTED to. Not a chore. Thanks for telling us! You should have said something earlier. Not an hour before voting closes !

My Dad is Pappy to Westley too. It kind of reminds me of Pap Smear, but I’m really trying to get used to it.

Also…every picture ever of Waylon is adorable. That one in the beginning half out of the frame and the one of him reading with friends? No. Can’t stand it. Must go wake Westley up now.

Congrats on the celeb tweet and apartment therapy shtuff.

I’m afraid to watch that bullying trailer.

I keep saying NO NO NO to dogs and cats and everything like that. They don’t grow up, you know?

Amen to the N-O on “cute” puppies. You already take care of something 24-7 that poops in inappropriate places and requires constant training. If he would like to stay home all day and care for the other one, great, but until then…
