I mentioned it before, but I’ll say it again: We’re moving. Again.
10 times in less than 5 years and I have to say –I’m tired. Tired of craigslist. Tired of landlords. Tired of moving the same boxes of crap-I-never-use into apartments too small to store it. For months we lived in a basement that was literally 350 square feet. If you were mad, you had to storm off and pout on the toilet. There was no where else to go.
Now that we’re moving into an actual house, it feels very grown up. Maybe I’ll get a plant.
A Tour
Entering from the back —-> Shed, bushes, place for a small garden, random coy pond for Waylon to fall into and possibly drown.
Entering through the back porch—> Mud room, pantry, closet, half bath.
Enter the kitchen which opens into the dining room, still decorated with plaid country curtains that make me feel like I’m in a hunting lodge (they must go).
Walk straight ahead to the living room overlooking the front porch.
Walk out the front door to the front porch.
Turn the corner to see the side yard.
Back inside to walk up the steps and lurk down at a long haired hippie.
Upstairs bathroom (also still decorated).
Onto the guest room featuring a popcorn ceiling, paint job, and curtain combo that would make Martha’s eyes bleed.
Enter the “Master Bedroom,” a term that always makes me uncomfortable as I picture a warlord sitting in the middle of a round bed on a pile of mistresses.
And finally, Waylon’s gender confused room (not that there’s anything wrong with that), soon to be painted something a bit less “My Little Pony.”
There’s also an attic (pictured below) and basement complete with a man sized washer and dryer, work table, and mini study that Baby Daddy will use to learn the parts of the body and why they malfunction and make you die.
Now that you’ve seen the place, any cheap/easy/DIY home improvement tips would be greatly appreciated. Disclaimers: My budget is the 50 cents I found in the dryer and I don’t know what an exacto knife is (but everyone keeps talking about it).
The End.

Wow! It’s huge! Nice yard too – coy pond and all:)
You know what Jake says about coy fish…
This place looks beautiful. A little paint can totally transform a room…sometimes you can get it cheap at Lowe’s or Home Depot on the “oops” rack of mixed colors people returned. But even these will probably cost more than 50 cents:(
I will save my pennies. Good tip!
Lots of potential here! Love the front porch.
Love it!
attic envy.
ohhh I love a good front porch. You may have to get one of these: http://pinterest.com/pin/259590365990884313/
Oh how I’ve lusted after one of those…
I love your front porch! I’ve always wanted one. Visit thrift stores and blogs!! A little spray paint can make things look new :) PS- Way looks kind of excited about his pink room
Thrift stores are my Mecca. And Waylon totally looks excited. Maybe we should keep it? …
That house is ADORABLE. I love it! If you aren’t on pinterest, get on there. Ideas are a flowin’ over there. For 50 cents even. Okay, not really.
Oh Pinterest. The death of me.
Maybe you shouldn’t look at Pinterest? It’s good at breeding jealousy and want :)
So cute! When is the moving date?
And the line about the warlord on a pile of mistresses did. me. in.
We move as soon as we find renters. Hopefully sometime before December 1st (I’m dreading it).
Wow, this place looks great. Those wood floors look beautiful and I love the porch! Can’t wait to see what you do with the place.
Favorite thing: Guest bedroom. Oh how I won’t miss sleeping on your living room floor :) Also glad Bizz could dress up for the tour. Seemed appropriate.
Love the porch and the wood floors, basically everything Bec said. Will thing of ideas…but that 50 cent budget might be touch to work with.
oh my word!!! i love it! so happy for you guys!! yes it will suck to move again, but you will be here LONG TERM, which I’m sure is very, very exciting.
Oh goodness. That’s gorgeous. We are hoping to move in 2012 and I can only hope to get a house half that beautiful!
I gutted and rebuilt an old house 3 years ago. And by me, I mean my husband and father.
And I have two boys.
So, please consider me the expert on the guest bathroom used by boys. Tile every freaking service you can. Tile the floor, the walls, all around the sinks and tub. And install a urinal.
Hindsight.
Good thoughts, good thoughts..
congrats on your house! I love the wood floors. My boy sleeps in a pink and yellow bedroom with his sister – I wonder what effect it’s having on him? I just have no desire to repaint.
I read the master quote to my husband and we both roared. A very bad mental picture.
