This week’s development news is fairly significant as the baby is settling into the proper position for birth, with his head facing downward toward the nearest exit. He is now about 2.5 pounds and almost 16 inches long. His days are busy adding new skills such as “blinking” to an already impressive repertoire of tricks like coughing, sucking, hiccupping, and taking practice breaths. Baby’s sleep now includes the REM phase which means he could be dreaming, though what on earth does he have to dream about?
At this point in the pregnancy we have been strongly urged by peers and professionals alike to attend child- birthing class, but have not yet registered due to cost, time commitment, and general wariness of community classes based on common knowledge. Of course we’re not close to being fully “prepared” for d-day, but we’re wondering if a class would make us any more prepared. Is it bad I’m still hoping it just slips out? If you think we’re missing out on a critical part of the prenatal experience, let me know.
