Yesterday evening we had a little scare when I had some minor spotting and cramping. I called the (very gracious and helpful) OBGYN office and they asked me to come in this morning to make sure everything is okay. Austin and I were happily surprised to see a big ol’ baby in there. He/She was really moving around! I had no idea it would be so active. The ultrasound technician could tell we were new parents based on our outrageous reactions. We were not prepared to see an actual little person. Austin asked twice if it was possible to see a little baby penis. Seriously, ABaer?
The images above are the three pictures they took this morning. They are kind of fuzzy after scanning them into the computer. What a little alien! Tomorrow I will be 11 weeks, not far from the 2nd trimester. Right now the baby is about the size of a lime, enjoying a 1:1 ratio between body and head. I also learned today that the fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and the hair follicles, tooth buds, and nail beds are forming — setting up a significantly more attractive future. Great job, Baby Baer. Keep on keeping on.

Looks like a girl to me. The delicate profile.
Yayyy!!! So the news is out? Fun fun!
